The Department of Work and Pensions can potentially provide support for pilot colleagues adversely affected by industry downturn.

IAGO is registered as an approved supplier to the UK Government Department of Work and Pensions (DWP). The DWP have various schemes in place to assist unemployed pilots to gain employment.

The Process

If your employment prospects can be demonstrably enhanced by revalidation or renewal of an existing rating or an attainment of further professional qualifications such a CCQ or TRI / TRE authorisation then the DWP have processes and potential funding options to assist you.

Further details of the Government schemes can be found on the BALPA website.

For unemployed pilots , register as soon as possible at your nearest Job Centre where a job coach will be assigned.

It is important to register with the Job Centre if only to assist the process of applying for an airside pass once re-employed.

The assigned coach should be advised that your preferred training provider would be IAGO. Be as detailed as possible in terms of the training that you hope to achieve and,in the case of renewals, please provide expiry date, last flight and time on type etc. Ensure that the job coach is aware that a claim for the course will be submitted by making use of the ‘flexible support fund’

You will need to book your training with IAGO and we will provide you a letter of confirmation and invoice to prove that the training will go ahead.
